DOUG, MARG & JACLYN HAY

Meet the Hay Family – Your Hosts at Central Park Apartments
We made the move to Cromwell in December 2014 after purchasing Carrick Lodge Motel, bringing with us years of experience in the accommodation industry. Our journey began as the first leasees of Bella Vista Motel in Te Anau. After selling in 2006, we spent six years across the ditch in Mackay, Queensland. Eventually, the pull of home became too strong, and we returned to Central Otago. We wanted our daughter Jaclyn to grow up with New Zealand’s beauty at her doorstep, and Cromwell has been the perfect place to do just that.
Doug is a butcher by trade, and while living in Australia he also completed an adult apprenticeship in Civil Construction. These days, his official job titles around Central Park Apartments are far too many to list! With a lifelong love of motorsport, it’s no coincidence we ended up right next door to Highlands Motorsport Park. Doug volunteers at the track and helps out pit-side at local speedway and hard track events. If you get chatting to him, be prepared for a good yarn about cars!
Jaclyn grew up living in the family business and now works full-time as an Equine Vet Nurse while studying toward her vet nursing qualification by correspondence. She still finds time to play rugby, practise jujitsu, hit the slopes, and compete in equestrian events. She even keeps Doug honest on the Highlands Go Kart track, proving that a bit of petrol definitely runs in the family.
Marg’s hospitality career began in Te Anau and was followed by years working in administration, finance and compliance for local and state government in Mackay. These strengths are now poured into the day-to-day running of the business. Her passion lies in a different type of horsepower — supporting Jaclyn with her riding pursuits.
We love what we do and feel lucky to call Cromwell home. If there’s anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Warm regards,
Marg, Doug and Jaclyn Hay
